Welcome
Dear Parents, Teachers and Students,
I am delighted to have this opportunity to help you discover The Raleigh School. At heart, we are a community, a community with complete focus on providing the highest-quality learning environment for children. Our teachers treat each student with respect. Our parents are involved in all aspects of the school, from planting trees to helping in the classroom. Our students learn how to think and are excited about learning. Our alumni excel in middle school and beyond.
We are a community with complete focus on providing the highest quality learning environment for children.
I’ve been involved in schools in one way or another for almost sixty years – as a student, parent, teacher and administrator. I grew up in Bay Shore, New York and was an English major at Connecticut College in New London. I taught fifth and sixth grades in Yonkers, New York. After moving to Raleigh I went to North Carolina State University for my masters in school administration. I first came to The Raleigh School as a parent. Within a few incredible moments visiting a class of three year olds I knew that I had found a very special place – a place where children were able to learn in the most effective ways possible. I’ve been thrilled to increase my involvement at the school over the years.
I cannot imagine my life without the magic of the community we have here and the daily excitement of learning. I am constantly awed by the power and potential of our school. I hope you will first discover this excitement as you view this website. But to really get to know us, please call to arrange a visit.
Sincerely,
Harriet Lasher
Head of School
